I always wanted to be a veterinarian from the time I could say the word and understand what it was, somewhere around age 5. Fortunately, I was able to follow through on that dream. I was raised in Versailles, KY and graduated from the University of KY (GO CATS!) with a Bachelors and Masters degree in Animal Science.
In 1994 I graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, Auburn, Alabama. (WAR EAGLE!) My husband and I both fell in love with the Bowling Green area and have lived here since 1994. We were blessed to open our own practice in 1997, 3 weeks after our daughter was born! As our practice has grown so has our family, with two sons, a daughter-in-law and a son-in-law and a grandaughter on the way!
Our animal family currently includes dogs, a cat and a herd of Boer goats.
I enjoy volunteering at our church and our children’s school. Over the years, I have been a 4-H leader and livestock volunteer. I love to read, spend time on our farm and watch our children’s sports activities.
There have been many memorable experiences in my veterinary career, fortunately, mostly good ones. We are rewarded on a daily basis with great clients and their pets and I enjoy getting to know their families.
I have been involved in organized veterinary medicine at the state level by serving on the Executive Board of the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association. I also enjoy promoting agriculture through various organizations. I have served as President of our state association and also am involved with the AU college of Vet Medicine Alumni Advisory board.
I enjoy the diversity of my job! I treat reptiles, birds, dogs, cats, rodents, goats – you name it! It keeps my job exciting and keeps me on my toes learning about different species. My special interests recently are ultrasound and endoscopy.
I am fortunate to love what I do and would choose the same if I had to do it all over again. This is a profession that allows me to practice medicine and be with animals, what could be better!
