I always wanted to be a veterinarian from the time I could say the word and understand what it was, somewhere around age 5. Fortunately, I was able to follow through on that dream. I was raised in Versailles, KY and graduated from the University of KY (GO CATS!) with a Bachelors and Masters degree in Animal Science.
In 1994 I graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, Auburn, Alabama. My husband and I both fell in love with the Bowling Green area and have lived here since 1994. We were blessed to open our own practice in 1997, 3 weeks after our daughter was born! As our practice has grown so has our family, with 2 younger sons.
Our animal family currently includes 5 dogs, 1 cat, and 2 rabbits. We also raise and show Boer goats.
My interests include volunteering at our church and our children’s school, being a 4-H leader and livestock volunteer, reading and enjoying my children’s activities.
There have been many memorable experiences in my veterinary career, fortunately, mostly good ones. We are rewarded on a daily basis with great clients and their pets and I enjoy getting to know their families.
I have been involved in organized veterinary medicine at the state level by currently serving on the Executive Board of the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association. I also enjoy promoting agriculture through various organizations. I am also currently serving as president – elect of the KVMA.
I enjoy the diversity of my job! I treat reptiles, birds, dogs, cats, rodents, goats – you name it! It keeps my job exciting and keeps me on my toes learning about different species. My special interests recently are ultrasound and endoscopy.
I am fortunate to love what I do and I would choose the same if I had to do it all over again. This is a profession that allows me to practice medicine and be with animals, what could be better.
